Check out our new PayPal button–and donate while you’re at it!

Yippee skippee! We are doing the happy dance because of our new PayPal button in our sidebar! As of this week we officially became a verified PayPal nonprofit organization, so you can safely and securely donate to our cause. Every donation helps, whether it’s $10 for our art bags (your $10 helps us put an art bag in the hands of an at-risk child) or $100 to help us help other abuse-related organizations and support groups in the state.

The button has been tried and tested, so we know it works. Perhaps you should test it out just in case… It’s over there to the right!

Remember, together we can do much for many!

Rescue the Future recap

On October 21st Childhelp Wasatch Front Utah Chapter held its first fundraising event. Rescue the Future, a fundraiser and art exhibit, took place at Noah’s event center in South Jordan and featured Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff as the keynote speaker. Also on the program were Childhelp co-founders Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson.

After a few hours of preparation…

and a few more hours…

we were ready for our guests!

The evening consisted of a silent auction…

and fabulous speakers.

Guests also enjoyed entertainment by Phoebe Romney and Natalie Evans…

Thank you to everyone who planned, set up, welcomed, donated, sponsored, attended, spoke, socialized, served and entertained. It would not have been as successful a night without your help. We love you!

To catch more photos from Rescue the Future, you can pop over to our Flickr stream or the view slideshow below. If you look carefully you might even see the extra “little” help we had setting up!

P.S. Have you seen our Art in a Bag concept yet? If not, you really must! Instead of your $10 going toward an overpriced sandwich in some restaurant downtown, it can purchase an art bag for an at-risk child. Pretty easy decision if you ask me.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

2010 October 11
by admin

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Childhelp is remembering all the women and children affected by violence in the home. Here is an excerpt from the post; we encourage you to read it in its entirety:

No matter how abuse is delivered, it leaves a lasting impression on the victim and those around them. In fact, homes in which women are beaten are exponentially at higher risk to have abused children as well. Sadly, those children are also at risk to learn the abusive habits they see growing up and continue the cycle of violence later in life in their own families. But there is hope and children don’t have to be a part of the domestic violence they grew up in. {click here to read full post}
